Forensic and Clinical Toxicology Association (FACTA) Conference 2024

Welcome to FACTA 2024

Dear colleagues,

We are very much looking forward to the FACTA 2024 meeting in Hobart! It’s sure to be 3 days full of discovery – new ideas, new friendships, and new perspectives.

Our main keynote speaker is A/Professor Christophe Stove from Ghent University in Belgium. He will be sharing his novel and exciting research on areas such as the detection of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and dried blood microsampling for alcohol biomarkers. We have also planned a special session focusing on the Emerging Drug Network of Australia (EDNA), which has become a key initiative in drug surveillance in our part of the world. And following the success of the expert panel session at the last FACTA conference, we have again convened a panel of experts to discuss a different topical issue, Amphetamines in the Community. This panel discussion will feature our other keynote speakers, A/Prof Rebecca McKetin, Dr Paul Liknaitzky, and Prof Olaf Drummer.

We would sincerely like to thank all our sponsors, who have made it possible to host such a high quality meeting. I encourage you to visit the exhibition booths during breaks and to interact with those who provide such great support for our field. And while you’re there, take advantage of our photobooth to get your free professional headshot.

The conference dinner is the highlight of the social program and will be held on Tuesday night at the Hobart Function and Conference Centre, where you can bond with fellow delegates over delicious food and picturesque views of the Derwent river. And don’t forget to join us on Sunday evening for the welcome reception at the Crowne Plaza.

The FACTA AGM will be held on the final day of the conference, where we will also elect board members to lead the association for the next 2 years.
See you in Hobart!

Kind regards,
Tim and the FACTA team
