We welcome all delegates, TIAFT, SOHT and FACTA members as well as accompanying persons to the sunny state of Queensland and the 54th Annual Meeting of The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists 2016
The meeting will commence on Sunday 28th August with many committee meetings scheduled for the first half of the day. The vendors and sponsors will be preparing for their exhibition and all will be ready for our opening welcome reception which will be at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre (BCEC).
On Monday we commence the scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations. The abstracts for these presentations can be found further on in this book. Our conference partners ICMSA have done an excellent job of assisting the local hosts to organise all aspects of this meeting. Together with our SOHT colleagues, Tuesday is a half day of presentations – followed by our social excursion to the famous Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This event will enable all participants to mingle with each other, experience some our native animals, sample the local beverage and taste some traditional Australian treats. We will be returning by Tuesday evening so participants will have the opportunity to dine out with friends and experience some of Brisbane’s exciting and vibrant restaurants by the river.
Wednesday and Thursday are both full days of scientific programs with many topics covered – most sessions have a selected keynote speaker which the organising committee believes will add much to the scientific program. There are around 112 oral and 200 poster presentations scheduled for Brisbane and we are excited to have organised the third such meeting in Australia over the last 50 years of TIAFT’s existence (Perth 1990 & Melbourne 2003). The meeting will close with our banquet dinner at the spectacular City Hall on Thursday evening.
We look forward to meeting you throughout the meeting and hope that all of you have a memorable stay in our beautiful country and enjoy TIAFT 2016.
